Johannesburg (Reuters) - a well-preserved set of 2 million years old fossil shows a part of the human species of APE part had hands similar to the man, sophisticated ankles that helped in a small but surprisingly advanced brain and movement, a report released Thursday said.

The fossils, discovered in a cave sunk North of Johannesburg, may change the views of the origins of human beings. Show a combination of anatomical features never seen before, demonstrating close ties with the species and humans.

"Many very advanced features are found in the brain and the body, and the earlier date as possibly the best candidate for our genus, the genus Homo, ancestor more than previous discoveries," said Lee Berger of the Institute for human evolution at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.

Berger and a team of experts examine fossils from the site and findings to be published in the prestigious magazine Science said that they found the most complete hand of the species called hominid, the most complete, without distortions bone hip and very well preserved bones of the ankle.

"This is giving us a vision that no assumptions in an area of anatomy which is fundamental and essential to walk as a human evolved," said Berger of the bones of the foot and ankle.

The hand, which was described as a human and at the end of an arm of ape-like, had a grip of precision could have helped in making tools, said the Member of the team of Tracy Kivell, a researcher at the Max Planck Institute of Germany.

His thumb elongated differ from apes and allows capture objects most strongly.

The brain of pomelo-tamaño of hominid with a form close to human beings and can challenge the theories on the enlargement of the brain in human development, they said.

Since the discovery of the site in August 2008 found 220 bones of the first hominid, representing at least five people. The role of science is based on a detailed analysis of two individuals.
